I hope that you all had a wonderful and restful break! Some of you took the opportunity to read some really good books. Good for you! I followed your suggestion and read The Lightening Thief. I haven't finished it, but you were right. It is a fun and interesting book. Share with us what you read.
This month, think about your favorite book that you would like to see developed into a movie. Why would this be a good choice for a movie? Who would enjoy it? If you were the director, who would you choose to play the lead roles and why? If you are a non-fiction reader this can still work for you. Think about what you have read on a topic of interest. Imagine that you are a producer working for the Discovery Channel or The History Channel. What will be the topic of your next documentary project? Why is this a good choice? Who is your intended audience?

The book that I want to become a movie is, Forged by Fire. The book is about a boy and his bad life. Gerald’s mom is a crackhead and social services places him with his grandmother until she dies and he must go live with his new family. His stepfather is abusive and Gerald must learn to stand up for himself, his mother and his sister. This would be a great movie because it is realistic and many kids could relate to this. There could be very subinful and that is way people would like the move. This movie would appeal to an audience of all ages.
ReplyDeleteDarius, I think that this is an excellent choice. It is such a touching story, with characters that are easy to relate to and root for. I can imagine some very dramatic and tense scenes. I am sure that Sharon Draper has had offers. Why do you think that her books have not been made into movies?

ReplyDeleteVictoria, I think Sisters Grim should be a movie. This book is about two sisters that live with their grandmother. The town she lives in is Fairyportlanding and her neighbors are Fairytale characters. The grandma is trying to find her son and daughter-in-law because those are the parents of the two little girls. I just think that this book is so good that it will be so easy to do as a movie.
ReplyDeleteI am of the opinion that realistic fiction books make much better movies that fantasy books. The curent technology available to movie-makers isn't advanced enough to faithfully reproduce fantasy books. In addition, fantasy novels are usually considerably longer than other genres. This means that important scenes must be cut when the book is converted to a screenplay.

Well isn't that interesting! After you suggested i read The Lightening Thief they DID make it into a movie. Lucky you for getting to see it on a field trip. How did it compare to the book in your opinion?
